Sugar Cookies (recipe is doubled, but matches the amount of icing)
1/8 tbl salt
2 2/3 cups of flour
19 tbl butter (2 sticks and 3 tbl)
1 1/3 cups confectioners sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cream butter and sugar and salt. Add flour in parts. If too dry, add 1 tsp water. Chill for 1 hour. Roll and cut. Bake on parchment 8-10 minutes. Take off pan and allow to cool on cooling tray.
Royal Icing (not doubled, but PLENTY for the cookies)
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp lemon juice
3 cups confectioners sugar
food coloring
Combine egg and lemon, gradually add sugar. Separate and add food coloring as desired. Use clear plastic bags to decorate the cookies.
